Bring an Ice Pack
If you’re going on a picnic, you’ve probably already packed a basket or cooler with food! While packing your food, don’t forget to throw in an ice pack. You can use an ice pack to treat a wide variety of ailments, including bumps, bruises and bites! When needed, simply wrap the ice pack in a thin cloth and press it to the injured area. The ice pack will serve to slow blood flow to a bruise, minimizing the severity of the bruise. It will also help provide relief to bites and reduce swelling in bumps.
Don’t Forget Your Tea
In addition to the ice pack, don’t forget to bring some tea bags to your picnic. Not only can you prepare yourself a cup of tea to drink, you can also use the tea bags to help provide relief to bruises and bites. The herbs packed in to the tea bags will serve as a “medicine” for all of those bumps, bruises and bites.

Be Prepared with Anti-Itch Cream
If your child gets a bug bite while on a picnic, it’s important that you treat it right away with some anti-itch cream. This is important because kids tend to scratch untreated bug bites, sometimes even hard enough to draw blood. This can lead to infections and can even leave scars behind. So, if you’re going on a picnic with your kids, bring along the anti-itch cream so that you can treat bug bites as soon as possible.
Keep An Eye On It
Even after treating your child’s bumps, bruises and bites, be sure to keep an eye on your child’s injury. A simple bump to the head can result in something serious such as a concussion. If this is the case, you’ll want to keep an eye on your child so that you can look for any signs of a more serious injury. This is one of the most important summer picnic safety tips because a concussion can be fatal if left untreated.
