Getting a cold? It’s really no surprise, if you think about it, and not just because it happens to be cold season. Now that the holidays are behind us, all the flurry of activity from the past few months is finally taking its toll. We managed to keep going through the parties, decorating, crafting, shopping, caroling, more shopping, more parties, baking…you get the point. Come January, though, everything just kind of catches up to you, doesn’t it? That drain on your energy doesn’t just leave you feeling blah, it also leaves your immune system with a few holes in its armor. Stress actually weakens your immune system, as does lack of quality sleep. No wonder I’m stuck getting a cold every January!

Getting a cold? Fight back with Gravol™!

To help start you off on the right foot this year and keep you going through the coldest months we wanted to highlight symptoms that you may be falling victim to a cold or flu – and what you can do to combat them.

Common signs that you’re getting a cold or the flu include:

  • coughing
  • scratchy throat
  • congestion (that stuffy head feeling)
  • runny nose
  • tiredness
  • fever or chills (more common in the flu)
  • muscle aches and pains (also a sign of the flu)

It’s important to listen to your body and know when it’s telling you to slow down. As soon as you start to feel something coming on, use an all-in-one pain, fever and nausea reliever, such as Gravol™ Multi-symptom™. With naturally-sourced ginger and willowbark, it will help fight off that nasty Canadian cold, without leaving you feeling drowsy.

Even though it’s cold out, try to keep warm! Curl up into a nice cozy blanket with a hot cup of herbal tea, such as one made from chamomile. This can have a relaxing and calming effect as well as help with congestion and a sore throat.

Sleep is underrated – plain and simple, but it’s about more than a simple beauty regime. It’s one of the most important rituals that your body needs to restore energy. So when you’re starting to feel a little under the weather, sit back and relax – your body is telling you that it needs rest!

Try to avoid excess stress. Yes, I know, easier said than done. No one can completely avoid stress, so just decide to set aside some of your worries while you’re sick. You can always pick them up again when you feel better.

  1. I’m a bit surprised that I never heard of this brand before, but it sounds quite promising! Since I’ve been prone to sickness over the past few years, I usually nix a cold by taking a dropper full of oregano oil at least once a day. I also take turmeric supplements and drink it in tea form.

  2. It really is important to listen to your body, I agree. If you pay attention, you can tell when something’s coming on, and hopefully catch it before it wears you down.

  3. I’ve never tried this, but I’m going to get some and keep it on hand. Colds are the absolute worst when you have a schedule like mine. There’s no time to be sick!
