Sending your child to daycare can be hard enough, but when you consider all of the sicknesses and germs that your child can pick up, it becomes even harder. That’s why it’s so important to boost your child’s immune system. Honestly, kids are still going to pick up germs, but by giving their little immune systems a bit of a kick, you might be able to avoid those daycare plagues that scare you so much.

Tips that may help boost your child’s immune system

First, we’re just being cheeky when we call them plagues. The actual plague really only affects an average of 17 people a year in the US. Canada hasn’t seen it since 1939. Just a little virology fun fact for you!  Second, this article is NOT meant to offer medical advice. These tips MAY help boost your child’s immune system. Every child is different, so not every tip will work for every kid.

Vitamins

If you want to boost your child’s immune system, a good daily multivitamin may help. Daily vitamins contain nutrients and vitamins that are essential to good health. These ingredients work together to give your child’s body what it needs to fight off different illness and daycare plagues. Even though vitamins are typically safe, talk to your child’s doctor first before starting a regimen, especially if there are any preexisting medical conditions.

Vaccinate

To boost your child’s immune system and avoid daycare plagues, make sure their vaccinations are up-to-date. Vaccinations introduce common illness to your child so that their immune system can learn how to fight it. This makes it easier for your child’s body to fight off those daycare plagues. If you have concerns about the safety of vaccines, discuss them with your doctor.

Healthy Diet

Keeping your child healthy is an important step in boosting their immune system. Because of this, it’s important that your child’s diet be filled with healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables. Foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt, are also necessary for boosting your child’s health.

Naps

If your child is tired, their immune system will be down and they will be more susceptible to daycare plagues. If you want to avoid this, then make sure your child gets enough rest, including adding naps to their schedule if necessary. If you notice that your child is starting to feel under the weather, give them even more time to rest and recuperate so that their immune system

Exercise

A healthy body will have an easier time of fighting off different illnesses and daycare plagues. In order to boost your child’s immune system, encourage them to run around and play. If your child enjoys sports, enroll them in different sports year round so that they are active and exercising on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of germs in a daycare and there’s not much you can do to reduce the amount of germs your child is exposed to. You can, however, give your child the needed tools to fight back and avoid those daycare plagues.

  1. All these are wonderful tips that we do in our home. We also just started using essential oils which help out a lot!

  2. Great tips! Will pass these along to my daughter. Daycare can certainly be such a tough space to protect our little ones and every “bug” seems to spread so quickly!

  3. These are all great tips and we’ve been using all of them. My littlest goes to school in the mornings every day and since we’ve added vitamins and enforced nap time he seems to be getting sick less.
