Schedule Time for Exercise

Even if it’s just a few stomach crunches, walking around the block, or a round of Wii Fit, schedule some time for exercise. If your schedule is super busy, making sure to plan out every minute is important so you can squeeze in extra things here and there. To squeeze in some exercise time, you will have to schedule it.

Make Use of Down Time and Breaks for Exercise

Stay Fit

Don’t allow down time and breaks from work or home responsibilities to go to waste. Make use of those free minutes by fitting in some exercise.

Figure Out Your Stumbling Blocks

Do you know what your fitness stumbling blocks are? You know, those things that always derail you from your fitness goals. Is it a stretched day that you’re cramming too much into and you swing through a drive-through for some quick calories and cheap food? Maybe your stumbling block is overeating on weekends.

Figure out what habits and activities ruin your plans to stay fit and try to develop a plan to avoid them.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Not enough sleep affects everything you do — from your mood, to your stress level, to your plan to stay fit. While eight hours of sleep each night is usually the recommendation, each person is different and your body may not function best on an eight-hour sleep cycle.

Try to keep track of your sleep patterns so you can figure out what works for you. You may need nine or more hours of sleep or you may function best with six or seven. The bottom line is to make sure you are getting plenty of quality sleep so you are rested every day. Being well rested will help you achieve your goal of staying fit.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking plenty of water every day helps your body function at its best. Talk to your doctor about an amount recommendation for you then start working daily toward drinking that amount. Take chilled bottles of water with you when you are on the go so you can keep yourself well hydrated while you are running errands.

Avoid Eating on the Run

Eating on the run can make you tired and draggy. When you eat on the go, you also tend to eat a lot of junk. If you have to be out and about, take healthy snacks with you so you can avoid eating stuff that will ruin your fitness goals.

Staying fit does indeed take work and when you are busy it requires more discipline. Use some of these tips to help yourself stay on track even when your schedule has you running in all directions.

  1. I definitely struggle with getting food while I’m out: Just a quick stop here to starbucks, or there to get a snack. My biggest help is staying on track with FitBit and the MyFitnessPal app on my phone. It’s more work but I always drop pounds when I’m aware of exactly what’s going in my mouth and steps/calories out
