New Year’s Resolutions that You Can Actually Keep
This year I am going to lose weight
Notice I did not say “I am going to lose fifty pounds” or other such lofty standards. I simply said that I am going to lose weight. This means that I am going to weigh less on New Year’s the next year than I do right now. That is doable and it is also something that will be motivating if you take it seriously.
I am going to drink more wate
If you tell yourself that you will drink ONLY water, you’ll set yourself up for failure. Besides, that would be boring! But if you tell yourself that you’ll drink more water, you’ll succeed! Start by adding in an extra glass a day. Then two, three, until you’re at the recommended amount (which actually varies depending on your activity level and weight, it’s NOT just a straight-up 8 glasses a day).
I commit to exercise of some sort every single day
This is a very generalized statement and that is on purpose. If you promise yourself that you will find some way to exercise a little bit every day, that is a pretty wide margin for error. Perhaps one day you only have time for ten pushups. No matter what, though, you commit to something every single day.
I will make someone smile every single day
This is a super easy one that is also fun. Every single day you will need to make someone smile and that is not all that hard. You can be the most curmudgeonly person on the planet and still make someone smile. Spend a few minutes each day doing this and you will feel much better about yourself throughout the year.
I am going to focus more on others than myself in the coming year
Again, it is general but can be a mantra for the coming year. Why not focus on others for a change. We are put here on this earth to love one another and focusing on finding ways to make others happy can be very rewarding for us as well. Consider this as your next New Year’s resolution It is super easy to keep too if you are committed to trying.

What are your New Year’s resolutions? Do you think you will be able to keep them?
I like the idea of making resolutions that are actually obtainable. I always set them to extremes and then fail miserably.
I remake the goal to drink more water about once a month, lol. I don’t know why that one is SO hard for me!
I love that one of your goals is to make someone else smile each day. A great one to “steal”. Drinking more water is also one of my resolutions; I used to do really well with it, but not as much any more.
i get my water in and then some. its the rest of it… thats the struggle!
I like that these are attainable goals that can be accomplished in many different ways. What a good way to start the new year!
I’ve been trying to drink my 8+ cups a day of water, but sometimes I forget. Well, most of the time I forget…
