Staying active during the summer is easier for our family. Kids are on vacation. There is no homework, no extracurricular activities, the weather is beautiful! We usually go biking or swimming in the outdoor swimming pool. As soon as school starts, things get a little harder! Dinner needs to be ready by 5.30 so we can supervise the homework or rush to hockey or swimming lessons. With some creativity we manage to find time to get all our family active!
4 ways to get our family active
Coaching the hockey team
My husband volunteers to coach in my son’s hockey team! While it can be time constraining because the practice hours are never on the same time. it is a great skating exercise for him! Twice a week, he gets on the ice with the team and he feels good about it!
Walking during practices
While my son is attending his hockey practice my daughter and I go for a walk in the neighborhood! It is our girls time and we really enjoy it! We usually go to a near park where she plays and I continue walking around!
Fall cleaning is a fun family activity! My daughter and I usually pick the leaves while the boys clean the garage! They store the bikes in the backyard. They organize the wood for the fireplace! We get ready for snow and winter!
Playing soccer in the neighborhood,
If the weather permits, we go outdoors for walks during the weekend.. My son brings his soccer ball and my daughter her bike! While she bikes around, we settle for a soccer game! It is one of our favorite fun family activities!
Getting your family active during fall does not have to be expensive or complicated! You can find balance by adding fun activities to your lives!
This post is brought to you by Together Counts! This nationwide program inspires families to get active and stay healthy by finding balance in their lives! It’s purpose is to get more families eating and getting active together in a total moderation and not “good food vs. bad”. I believe in moderation! We are an active family that tries to eat healthy food. It doesn’t meant that I don’t allow kids to eat candies or their favorite cookies! I just make sure that they eat a small quantity! I also make sure that they stay active and burn the calories they consumes. This is what the program is about: balance the calories that you consume with the calories that you burn. It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 200 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations.
