Surviving spring break with kids is a whole lot easier when you’re prepared with indoor games for the rainy season! Trust me, even if you’re planning on jetting away to paradise over the break, when it comes to spring, it’s almost guaranteed to rain on your carefully planned parade! Whether you’re off to an all-inclusive resort or enjoying a staycation, keep these ideas up your sleeve and you won’t have to hear the words “I’m sooooo bored” uttered even once! Check out a few of our favorite spring break indoor games for the rainy season!
Spring Break Indoor Games for the Rainy Season
These spring break indoor games for the rainy season aren’t just fun, some of them are actually pretty challenging! Don’t just sit back on the sidelines, get in on the fun with your kids!
Cookie Face
If you have some cookies- just about any kind will do- you’ve got a delicious and easy game waiting to happen. Place a cookie on the players’ forehead and have each kid hold their hands behind their back. Using only their facial muscles, players must move the cookie from their forehead to their mouth. This would be a great time to get the camera out for silly photo ops. Make this game even more fun by baking the cookies for it together! Try out delicious oatmeal raisin coconut cookies recipe!
Not-So-Easy Balloon Juggle
Blow up 5 -10 standard balloons. Toss the balloons into the air one at a time and see how many each player can juggle by keeping in the air at one time. The player who juggles the most the longest, wins. This is probably one of the easiest indoor games for a rainy season because you don’t need anything more than the balloons. Plus, no mess!
Get Nosey
If you have two bowls, a bag of cotton balls, and some petroleum jelly – you have a game. Have each player transfer a cotton ball from one bowl to another placed a foot away from the original bowl. Players must use just the right amount of jelly on their nose to get the cotton to stick, but not so much that it won’t easily drop into the second bowl.
Tub Time Fun
Paint can be messy, but adding a little food coloring to some shaving cream and your tub becomes an easily washable canvas. Simply mix a few drops of food coloring into several dollops of shaving cream. Give your kids a paint brush and watch them turn into a tub time artist. This is one of our favorite activities for toddlers, but don’t discount it for the older kids. Even tweens and teens love getting crazy messy sometimes!
Making an activity special by saving it just for days when you can send your kids to enjoy the adventures of outdoor play will be a great tactic. Soon, your kids will be hoping for rainy days to make special indoor activity memories, even during spring break!
You need to be a part of a contest for one of the greatest sites on the net.
I most certainly will recommend this site!
tub time fun sounds fun!! this is very new to me! will totally try it this weekend!
What a way to spend an enoyable time even if it’s gloomy outside! :)
My five year old loves painting in the bath tub. I can’t wait to share with her the balloon juggling idea. She is always begging for me to blow up balloons for her.
The cotton ball and jelly game sounds like someone you could easily do in a hotel room while on the road! Occupied kids are happy kids and this would be great fun while relaxing in the hotel after a long day of sight seeing! Great ideas!
So great and love the ideas! I will save this. Thanks for that!
These are some great ideas! Breaks are always so tough. And I feel that I need to work extra hard to get the kids entertained.
What a fun idea. I love this during the break I’m sure we get noisy in this game
It is always best to be prepared for these type of days!
Sounds like a lot of fun! I miss playing silly games with my girls. It’s really always more exciting when you have kids in the house!
These are all such great suggestions. It is typically still cold and snowy during Spring Break in Chicago so we are stuck indoors alot but have fun playing games like these!
Excellent ideas — so smart to be prepared like this :) I especially like the “Get Nosy” challenge!
