The Witches

The Jungle Book is a 2016 fantasy adventure film that is based on the 1967 movie of the same name. The film stars Neel Sethi and the voice cast of Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong’o, Ben Kingsley and Idris Elba. The Jungle Book is about Mowgli, who leaves the jungle he calls home after it is threatened by Shere Khan, a fierce tiger. He is not alone, though, as he is guided by some friends Bagheera and Baloo.

James and the Giant Peach

James and Giant Peach is a 1996 musical fantasy movie that is based on the 1961 book of the same name by Roald Dahl. The movie stars Paul Terry, Miriam Margolyes, Joanna Lumley, Pete Postlethwaite as well as the voices of Simon Callow, Richard Dreyfuss, Jane Leeves, Susan Sarandon and David Thewlis. James and the Giant Peach showcases the adventures of James, an orphan boy who runs away and befriends some bug friends including a grasshopper, centipede, ladybug, spider, earthworm and glowworm.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is a 2011 epic adventure movie that is based on the comic series The Adventures of Tintin. The film stars Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Nick Frost, Daniel Craig and Simon Pegg. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is the tale of Tintin and Captain Haddock, who set off on a treasure hunt adventure, in search of a sunken ship.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is a 2013 fantasy adventure movie that is based on the 2006 book The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. The movie stars Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Nathan Fillion and Anthony Head. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is about Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon and his friends Annabeth, Thalia, Luke and Grover, who set out on a journey to locate the mythical Golden Fleece while fighting off an ancient evil.

    I loved James and the Giant Peach along with a couple others on your list. I hope that I can see some of the newer ones too. They all look great.

  3. I love The Jungle Book and James and the Giant Peach. The other three I haven’t seen yet. But if BFG is like the Jungle Book I’ll have to check it out when it’s released in theaters.

  5. James and the Giant Peach was one of my favorites as a child. I need to find that movie and buy it. I would love to let my girls watch it. I haven’t seen it in years!

  6. I have a fondness for James and the Giant Peach. My 3rd grade teacher read us the book and I’ve always loved it. One of my favorite movies is Pete’s Dragon. I know they are remaking it this year and I hope it is as good as the original.

  7. I missed out on The Jungle Book. I have heard and read so many great reviews of the film. Once this is available on DVD/BluRay, I will get a copy. Marking my calendar for The BFG. I will make sure I do not miss out on this too.

  8. I’d like to take the kids to see some of these. We went to see the Angry Birds movie on Friday at our local theater and the kids saw the previews for The Jungle Book and I promised to take them to see it. I’ve seen them before and knew they’d love it.

  10. I’ve seen all of these, the kids loved them too. They are definitely worth watching. I haven’t seen BFG though and I’m excited to watch it with the kids!
