The other day, we promised you some fun Ice Age movie facts when we shared are our favorite Collision Course quotes. That time has come! We’re really excited for the July 22 release of the final installment of the Ice Age franchise. I can’t wait to see how it all ends for our prehistoric pals! Along with The Secret Life of Pets, this is one of the top movies on my son’s must-see list for the summer. Ready to check out a few interesting facts about Ice Age? Let’s go!

Fun Facts About Ice Age: Collision Course

1- The first of many movie posters for the film was released on November 6, 2015. The poster features the words Bring Scrat Home and is a spoof of the 2015 movie poster for The Martian, which reads Bring Him Home.

2- The initial movie release was supposed to be on July 15, 2016. However, that was later changed to July 22, 2016. The reason for the change was to avoid competition with the reboot of Ghostbusters being released on July 15, 2016.

3- This is the film debut for Jessie J. She plays the voice of Brooke, Sid’s love interest. Jessie J is best known for her hit songs like Price Tag, Nobody’s Perfect and Who You Are.

4- This is the longest out of all the five Ice Age movies in the franchise, at 100 minutes. The 2002 Ice Age was 81 minutes. The 2006 Ice Age: The Meltdown was 91 minutes. The 2009 Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs was 9 minutes. The 2012 Ice Age: Continental Drift was 88 minutes.

5- The movie release date of July 22, 2016 is John Leguizamo’s, voicing the role of Sid, 52nd birthday. He was born on July 22, 1964 in Bogota, Columbia.

6- There are 7 roles in this movie that are reprised from the other 4 movies: Manny, Sid, Diego, Scrat, Ellie, Peaches and Shira. Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat have been in all 5 movies, Ellie has been in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th movies and Peaches and Shira have been in the 4th and 5th movies.

7- The first 4 movies have grossed more than 2.8 billion at the box office worldwide. This makes it the 2nd highest grossing animated movie franchise, with Shrek being #1. The first Ice Age movie made $46,312,45 on its opening weekend, while the 2nd one made $68,033,544 its opening weekend, the 3rd one made $41,690,382 its opening weekend and the 4th one made $46,629,259 its opening weekend.
