Let’s be honest; sometimes when we’re watching kids’ movies, the slow pace has us yawning within the first 15 minutes! I always felt bad when my son would ask me to watch a “sleeper” film, because I’d struggle to stay awake and look like I was interested. By watching fun and engaging good family adventure movies, I don’t have that problem! Plus, it’s easier for me to pay attention, so we can talk about the movie together when it ends! Good Family Adventure Movies

This is one of my favorite good family adventure movies of the moment. I could watch it over and over! Maybe it’s because Jim Parsons, aka Sheldon Cooper, plays the voice of Oh, the Boov! Home is a 2015 computer animated science fiction buddy comedy film. It is based on the 2007 children’s book titled The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex. Aside from Parsons, it also stars the voice cast of  Rihanna, Steven Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Matt Jones, Brian Stepanek and April Lawrence. Talk about an all-star cast!

Oh is from another planet and finds himself on Earth when he is on the run from some of the mean ones from his planet. While on Earth, Oh meets Tip, a girl who is on an adventure of her own, to find her mother after she is left behind. Through his journeys with Tip, Oh finds out that humans make mistakes and that’s okay. Together, Oh and Tip discover the true meaning of what home really is.

The Incredibles

The Incredibles is a 2004 computer animated comedy superhero movie featuring the voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird and Elizabeth Pena. The Incredibles are a family consisting of Bob, his wife Helen and their three children Dash, Violet and Jack-Jack. Bob and Helen made a career of being superheroes that fight crime. Fifteen years later, they are retired and raising their children in the suburbs. Bob is called back into action by a mysterious communication for an assignment that is top-secret and located on a remote island. It doesn’t take Bob long to figure out that this mission is going to be a family effort in order to save the world from total destruction.

Madagascar is a 2005 computer animated comedy film. The movie showcases the voices of Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer and Andy Richter. The Central Park Zoo in New York is home to some best friends: Marty the zebra, Alex the lion, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo. When Marty decides to leave his pampered life at the zoo to see the outside world, his best friends aren’t too far behind him. Somehow they end up on a ship that is headed for Africa but when the ship capsizes, the friends find themselves stranded in Madagascar. They have been pampered their entire lives and know nothing about survival.

If you love this one, you’re in luck because it spurned not just several sequels, but also a series about the Penguins of Madagascar! This is one of those good family adventure movies that just keeps on giving! Take the movie fun further with a Madagascar movie craft for kids.

  1. I loved watching animated films with my kids when they were small, makes for a good quality time. They also learn the value of family, so that’s really awesome. These are great films that showcase that!
