Into the Woods
Into the Woods is a 2014 musical fantasy film that was inspired, but not based on, the fairy tales from the Grimm Brothers: Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk. The movie stars Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, James Gorden, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Tracey Ullman and Christine Baranski. Into the Woods tells the story of a baker and wife, who want to start a family but there is one problem, a witch has put a curse on them.
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 superhero movie that is based on the Spider-Man character from Marvel Comics. It is the 4th movie in the Spider-Man movie series with the others being Spider-Man in 2002, Spider-Man 2 in 2004 and Spider-Man 3 in 2007, yet it is also the first. Confused? It was a reboot of the first movie. The movie features Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The Amazing Spider-Man tells the tale of Peter Parker, who is a high schooler, living with his aunt and uncle after being abandoned by his parents. Peter finds a strange briefcase that belonged to his father, leading him to Oscorp.

Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four is a 2015 superhero film based on the Fantastic Four team from Marvel Comics. It is a reboot of the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and the 3rd film in the Fantastic Four film series with the others being Fantastic Four in 2005 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. The movie stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey and Tim Blake Nelson. The Fantastic Four tells the story of four young people who teleport to a universe that is strange and dangerous. On this universe, the four of them discover that their physical bodily features have been shockingly altered. They need to discover their new skills and work as a team to save Earth from their enemy, who was once a good friend. The Fantastic Four consists of Mr. Fantastic, The Human Torch, The Invisible Woman, and The Thing.

As you can see, reboots and fantasy/sci-fi were popular family movie themes during 2011-2015! My personal favorite, though, was Max. What a powerful movie! It opened up so many great discussion themes between my kids and me!

I watched the first Fantastic Four and loved it, but haven’t had a chance to watch the newer ones. I also wouldn’t mind checking out Earth to Echo sometime.
I have seen some of these movies but not all. My kids loved Max and now my son is reading the book!
We’ve seen those Marvel films. We loved those films. We have yet to watch ‘Into the Woods’ though. I think we’ll just have to wait for it on Netflix. :)

I watched most of these, particularly enjoyed Into the Woods and The Amazing Spiderman (watched it several times!). My boys loved Pan and Max. I’m going to check those I’ve missed. Thanks for sharing!
We’ve watched The Amazing Spiderman over and over again and still enjoyed it everytime. I would want to see Into The Woods. I don’t know why I missed watching it.
