What if you could help cure prostate cancer simply by encouraging the men in your life to grow a moustache for just one month? Sounds crazy, right? Well, during Movember, that’s really all it takes to help save lives! Read on to find out how you can get involved and help.
My grandfather suffered from prostate cancer! My husband’s grandfather suffered from prostate cancer! My neighbors’ father suffered from prostate cancer! It’s frighteningly more common than you might think!
According to Movember :
- 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer !
- A man dies from prostate cancer every 22 minutes.
- Prostate cancer is curable IF DETECTED early!
Aren’t these disturbing numbers? At OurFamilyWorld we share tips mostly about kids health and women health but let’s not forget the men! It’s important to raise awareness about men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health! I find men are TOO proud to share issues about their health. My dad was diagonalized with a colorectal cancer five years after it started. Five years and it was too late to save him! Why? because he did not want to share his health problems with my mom! He thought it was not important or he did not want to disturb her.
So now it is time to raise awareness about men’s health and prostate cancer! And most importantly to help funding the research for men’s health! This is where Movember comes into action and my husband too!
What exactly is Movember?
As an official global charity, Movember’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. Through the power of the moustache, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.
During the month of November, men grow a moustache and friends and families donate money to support their efforts and the cause. It’s really that easy! Just a little facial hair can go a long way to helping support causes that prevent men’s health issues. Our family is supporting my husband so we can help other families have great moments in their lives for years to come! We hope you will too!
My husband is taking the challenge this year! I am not a moustache fan (it is itchy) but for one month and for such an important cause, I can put my wants and needs aside for this cause! So please donate to his Movember team! Support their efforts and most importantly support men’s health! Every single dollar counts! Please Donate and share with your friends and family! Together we can help keep the men in our lives healthier and with us for a much longer time!
Superb, what a website it is! This weblog gives helpful facts to us, keep it up.
I actually didn’t know about Movember. This is definitely a great way to spread the word about an important cause.
this is a great way to raise awareness!
It is so important to raise awareness of mens health issues especially since they are less likely to get regular check ups. Luckily mustaches are so popular right now so I’m sure this will be their most successful year yet.
My husband always has a mustache, so he’d be game for this. I’ll have to keep this in mind for next year.
I know a bunch of people who do it all the time too!
I guess my hubby could do this. I’d try asking him. This is a good cause. It is really sad that some die because of prostate cancer. We do hope more people will be aware of this.
What a great cause and a fun way to show support for Men’s health. I now need to see who is growing a stache.
I love Movember. My military brothers do it every year, and since my grandfather passed from prostate cancer, we always encourage the men in our family to participate and donate each year.
this is so great, what a wonderful cause I will have to share this with my friends.
Love this idea! Will have to let my readers know!
I didn’t know about the mustache, fun idea for a great cause!
I tried to get my hubby to do it, and he said he didn’t want to. Not because of the cause, but because, well, the hair.
