Asian Glazed Chicken

“I’m going to make chicken for dinner. What kind of seasoning are you in the mood for?” I asked my husband. His response: something with Asian flair.

First, I diced up a chicken breast and began to cook it in a skillet.

I grabbed the soy sauce, worcestershire, and lime juice from the fridge, pouring a bit of each into a small bowl. Why lime juice? It just sounded like a nice twist to plain ol’ soy sauce.

Next I picked a clove of garlic and finely diced it, then added it to the same bowl. I’m not even sure if garlic is common in Asian cuisine, but I put onion and garlic in practically every dish I make. Next I went for peanut butter (because I love peanut butter!), brown sugar, and honey–all of which complement soy sauce. And a hint of sweetness will transform this from a sauce to a glaze.

The chicken finished cooking in the skillet, so I let it brown a little bit longer. I whisked the simple sauce together, and poured it over the chicken. Although this sauce is already bursting with Asian flair, it gets better as it cooks. The heat reduces the sauce to a glaze, which is thick and goopy over the chicken.

Allow that goodness to simmer for 10-15 minute and then it’s ready to enjoy. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve with rice, quinoa, or steamed vegetables.
