Most Popular Gender Neutral Baby Names

Picking out a name for your child is part of the bonding experience and some parents find that waiting until the day they are born can be difficult. Picking out two different names can be equally as challenging. With these gender unisex names, you’ll be sure to find a name that is suitable for a boy or a girl.

  • Adrian – Think of Rocky yelling for his beloved Adrian in the first film in the franchise. Talia Shire played the quiet but cute Adrian, but the name is also popular for boys, too. Adrian Peterson comes to mind for Minnesota Vikings fans.
  • Aisley – The English origin gives the name some neutrality, but it is unique with a feminine but still unisex touch.
  • Bailey, Bayley, Baylie – This gender neutral name has risen in popularity in recent years.
  • Cacey or Casey – This Irish originated name is suitable for both boys and girls.
  • Charlie – Perhaps a shortened form of Charlotte, this name is great for both girls and boys.
  • Emerson – This is a personal favorite as I know a baby Emerson. I won’t tell if it is a boy or girl because this name is both unique and non-gender specific.
  • Graceon, Gracen, or Gracyn – There are several ways of spelling this unique baby name. The gender neutral quality is rising in popularity with Gracyn being the most popular spelling.
  • Hadley – The title actually began as a surname, but grew into a popular English-oriented name.
  • Kacey – Another optional spelling choice for Cacey or Casey.
  • Landry – This gender-friendly name has risen in popularity over the last year.
  • River – For a nature-lover, River has the perfect balance of popularity in both genders.
  • Skyler – The name just about breaks even between boy names and girl names over the last few years.
  • Tatum – Perhaps Channing Tatum has something to do with the lure of this cute baby name that is great for baby boys or baby girls.

Finding a gender neutral baby name can be a great challenge. It will lead you down many paths of unique baby names, but rest assured it will pay off in the end! Thanks to so many options and the trend of spelling variations, you are only limited by your imagination.

  1. I like the list of gender-neutral names because they are usually more interesting, but not “shocking” type names. I like the name Ryan for a girl also.

  2. There’s a list like this for indian origin names as well. We choose names after we see the baby in spite of having a shortlist. I feel you can see the baby and you’ll know what name suits her or him. With a baby coming here soon, I’m looking at names now :)

  3. I always love Adrian, with a nickname of Addy, and I loved Charlotte, with a nickname of Charlie. Of course, my children ended up with Emma, Jack and Lucy :-) My brother and sister-in-law have been surprised with each pregnancy, and it drives me insane! I just want to know!

  4. Growing up I met more boys with the name Stacey than girls. Apparently it is considered a unisex name in most of the world. I love the names Ryan, Taylor, and Pascal for either boy or girl. I have taught both boys and girls with those names.

  5. I didn’t realize that some of these were gender neutral. Thanks for sharing this list! I can’t wait until we have kids of our own and go through the naming process. :)

  6. I LOVE gender neutral names, and even the trend of giving traditionally boys names to girls. It’s crazy to see how names change as years go on. Tatum sounds fun for boys and girls, love it.

  7. Lots of great names, I think my favorite is Charlie though I think if it was a girl I would name her Charlotte but call her Charlie. I just like them both!

  8. I was honestly surprised to see some of those names on the list! I have a friend with a gender neutral name and she gets annoyed because she hears of more boys with it than girls, haha.
