7 Things I Miss About my Single Days

As much as I love being a mom, there are definitely some things I miss most about my single days! Check out 7 things I totally took for granted!

I love my little family more than anything, but there are definitely a few things that I do miss about my single days.  Life before being a mom was just so much different than what my life is now.  Before I had kids, I thought I knew how my life was going to play out once I became a mother.  Boy, I was as clueless as clueless gets!  Here are some of the things I miss about my single days.

Things I Miss Most About my Single Days

Hot Meals And Beverages

Need an easy vegetarian dinner recipe? Try this baked ziti! Make enough for a small family & have leftovers, or feed a crowd on a budget!

All moms understand this one.  It sounds so basic, and it is.  But what I wouldn’t give for a hot cup of coffee uninterrupted while I eat a plate of piping hot eggs and bacon for breakfast or a cheesy dish of baked ziti for dinner.  Those days are long gone.

Free Time

When my husband and I were dating, our weekend mornings would start out by going for a jog, and then maybe to the gym.  We’d probably go out for breakfast afterward and then have a nap.  There was just so many hours in the day that were unaccounted for, and we could spend them doing whatever our little hearts desired.

Luxury And Frivolity

Maldives (Constance Halaveli Resort & Spa)

Don’t get me wrong, I am probably one of the least fancy people you’ll ever meet.  But I used to spend money on things that pleased me simply because I could.  Fifteen dollar shampoo to tame my curly mop?  Why not!  Going out to eat once a week because I have always loved good food?  Obviously!  A quiet vacation in paradise? Okay, not every week, but still, it was possible! Not counting pennies and keeping my eye on the bottom line was a much-enjoyed perk during those days.

No Filtering

I have always had a way with the English language – especially when it comes to colourful language.  Being able to say exactly what you want to say and not having to worry about influencing a toddler?  Actually, this just might fall into the luxury category after all!

Privacy And Personal Space

I don’t think I could fully grasp just how wonderful it was not to be stared at every morning when I’m getting dressed, and hear a tiny giggling voice say “Mommy’s bum is funny.”   Even just using the facilities alone was something I never used to think twice about, but now fantasize about almost daily.

Me Time

Chocolate Truffles

Time alone is probably one of the things I miss the most from my pre-mom days.  I recently celebrated a birthday, and my mom babysat my son all day.  It was one of the best birthdays I’ve had in a long time because I spent the whole day alone doing whatever I wanted.  And I didn’t have to share my chocolate with another soul!

Sleep

Oh boy, I miss sleep in all of its forms.  More than anything else.  Enough said.

Would I change my life and go back to the time before I had a family of my own?  Of course not!  Are there some things that I miss from those single days?  Of course, there are!

  1. This might sound weird but some days I just don’t want to eat much….like maybe I’d eat a pc of fruit and a pc of toast with peanut butter on it and I’d be 100% fine with that….so when you have to cook full meals three times a day and figure out snacks and lunches…yeah..LOL…kids are both moved out and its only hubby and I but still….some days I just wish I could lay around the house and do absolutely nothing..be a kid with no responsibilties …not have to pay bills, do laundry, clean house

  2. I think what I really miss most was having my own place and doing whatever I felt like when I wanted to.

  3. I miss those too but I also wouldn’t go back in time, love my family so much! Once in a while it would be nice to have a day just to yourself with no responsibility.
