  • Sing is only the 2nd musical put out by Illumination. The first was The Lorax. 
  • As I mentioned above, fans of musicals are going LOVE Sing! The movie features a total of 85 hit songs, beginning from the 1940’s until today. Some of the songs include My Way by Paul Anka and performed by Seth MacFarlane, Golden Slumbers by Paul McCartney and performed by Jennifer Hudson and Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen and performed by Matthew McConaughey.
  • Speaking of Seth, this is his first time doing a voice role in a movie that wasn’t put out by his own studio.
  • Garth Jennings is the movie’s director. He previously also directed The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in 2005 and Son of Rambow in 2007.
  • Sing is produced by Illumination Entertainment. This is the first time that the production company has released two movies in the same year. They also released The Secret Life of Pets on July 8, 2016.
  • This is the 2nd animated movie that Matthew McConaughey has been featured in. His 1st was earlier this year when he voiced the role of Beetle in the August 18, 2016 movie Kubo and the Two Strings.
  • Another fun fact about Matthew, this is the first time he’s with Reese Witherspoon since the 2012 film Mud.

  • Scarlett Johansson has also been busy this year! This is her second voice-over role. The first was the Jungle Book.
