Evil Dead

Evil Dead is a 2013 supernatural horror movie, and it is the 4th installment in the series, with the others being The Evil Dead in 1981, Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992. A group of 5 friends is staying at a remote cabin. When they come across the Book of the Dead, it leads them to unknowingly summoning the demons that live in the nearby woods. Evil Dead stars Shiloh Fernandez as David, Elizabeth Blackmore as Natalie, Jane Levy as Mia, Lou Taylor Pucci as Eric and Jessica Lucas as Olivia. If you love campy horror films, watch the original first, then follow up with the 2013 version for more scary fun!

Lords of Salem

Lords of Salem is a 2012 independent supernatural horror movie. A local radio disc jockey receives a box, containing a record, signed from the “gift from the Lords.” The sounds from the record trigger memories of the violent past of the town, Salem, Massachusetts. This causes her to wonder if she’s going crazy or if the Lords have returned to seek revenge. Lords of Salem stars Sheri Moon Zombie as Heidi La Rock.

28 Days Later

28 Days Later is a 2002 post-apocalyptic horror movie and the 1st installment in a series of two, with the other being 28 Weeks Later in 2007. Five survivors try to find sanctuary, 28 days after a mysterious virus that doesn’t have a cure spreads through the United Kingdom. 28 Days Later stars Cillian Murphy as Jim, Naomie Harris as Selena, Megan Burns as Hannah, Brendan Gleeson as Frank and Noah Huntley as Mark.

The Conjuring

The Conjuring is a 2013 ghost story that is supposedly based on the files from Ed and Lorraine Warren, two of the most prolific paranormal investigators of our time. It follows the story of a couple of living being terrorized by an unseen presence in their farmhouse. The Warrens travel to the couple’s home to try to help them vanquish the evil. The film stars Vera Farmiga as Lorraine, Patrick Wilson as Ed and Lily Tayler as Caroline. It’s probably one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in a long time! In fact, I can’t get into my bed at night without worrying that something is going to grab my feet!

The Ring

The Ring is a 2002 supernatural psychological horror movie that is a remake of the 1998 movie of the same name and is the 1st installment in a series of 3, with the others being The Ring Two in 2005 and Rings in 2016. Rachel Keller, a journalist, investigates a strange videotape that seems to kill whoever watches it within a week. The Ring stars Naomi Watts as Rachel Keller, Martin Henderson as Noah Clay and Brian Cox as Richard Morgan.

    The CONJURING I’d agree with.
    But the rest of them no.

  2. I absolutely love horror movies! I prefer more gruesome movies like Hostel, Saw, Devils Rejects and those types of scary shows. Love your list and have seen them all. Great recommendations!

  4. The Conjuring scared me to death. I am not a big fan of horror movies and I only watched this movie upon the prodding of a friend. I will share this list with her. She can scream all she wants. Haha.

  5. I’m not a big scary movie fan. The only one I’ve seen on this list is The Ring. lol. I have an old friend who is a scary movie junkie and will watch them over and over. I don’t know how he does it.
