The BFG Movie Trivia
- The BFG is the second movie based on a book written by Roald Dahl that has been transformed into a Disney movie, with the first one being the 1996 James and the Giant Peach.
- Sophie, one of the lead characters in the movie and the book was named after one of author’s Roald Dahl’s granddaughters.
- The book was dedicated to Dahl’s late daughter, Olivia, who died from measles-related complications in 1962.
- Steven Spielberg, The BFG director, and producer, has worked with actor Mark Rylance, who plays the lead role of The BFG, on one other film in the past and are slated to work together for three more movies in the future. In 2015, they worked on Bridge of Spies, where Rylance played Rudolf Able. In 2017, they are slated to work on two movies together, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara and Dunkirk, while in 2018, the pair is scheduled to work on Ready Player One together.
- This is Ruby Barnhill’s (who plays Sophie) first major motion picture. Prior to The BFG, she’s only appeared in one TV show: The 4 O’clock Club
- Rylance is regarded as the greatest stage actor of his generation. He’s won multiple Tony Awards, an Academy Awards Oscar and other awards.
