Modern Family Season 7 Episode 12: Clean for a Day Recap
So Jay, of course, has retired and Claire is set to take over the company. However, she decides she wants to get things in order at home first. She enlists the help of her family to clean the house and get rid of some of the clutter that has been accumulating.
While cleaning, Alex finds a sweatshirt that belong to Sanjay, her ex-boyfriend. This makes Alex very emotional and she breaks down crying. You really can’t help but feel for Alex because she really did like Sanjay and has been having a tough time with the breakup. Hopefully, this is her chance to accept the fact that the relationship is over so she can move on. However, that doesn’t seem to work because Alex heads over to Sanjay’s house to return the sweatshirt and Sanjay suddenly is telling her how sorry he is. His emotions were genuine and his words sounded sincere. We are all kind of left hanging as to what happens next but it is cool to see Alex finally taking control of her feelings.
Meanwhile, it seems that Phil and Luke can’t keep anything they want, such as their Flowbee Hair Cutting Machine, as Claire wants all of their old and unused stuff to be donated. I can understand Claire’s position in wanting her home in order prior to her returning to work.
Now that Jay is retired, he wants a new hobby and decides to take up flying lessons. Jay tells Gloria he is going golfing but Cam knows the truth. Cam tries to stop Jay after Gloria relates to him a dream she had about Jay falling from a substantial height. But, Cam gets distracted when he sees Jay’s cute pilot, Gus. During the flight lesson, Jay comes to the realization that being retired isn’t about doing things he wants to do but more about spending more time with his family. Meanwhile, Gloria wants to reconnect with Jay, so she is having Mitch teach her to play golf. She figures that now that Jay is retired, they can spend more time doing things together.
What’s happening next on Modern Family?
The next new episode of Modern Family airs on 2/24. In that episode, titled “The Storm,” a huge thunder storm brings wide power outages and the whole family congregates at Jay and Gloria’s to use their generator, but Jay has one foot out the door desperately trying to make it to a reunion with some old Navy buddies. Meanwhile, Phil tries to be the hero and redeem himself after a very embarrassing public panic attack earlier, but only causes more headaches for everyone. Mitch and Cam grasp at straws trying to salvage Lily’s birthday party where the most popular girl at school is in attendance, and Haley turns up the seduction efforts with Andy.
