Modern Family- Season 7- Episode 5 Recap: The Verdict

Here is the scoop on this week’s episode of Modern Family, season 7, episode 5:

Gloria, Mitch, and Cam- This week, she provides Mitch and Cam with a great deal of wisdom, something we don’t see much of often. Gloria is kicked off the jury because of her opening her mouth when it wasn’t time too. So, instead she decides to help out her son-in-laws with their little problem, being Raymond. Raymond is just recovering from a breakup and Mitch and Cam invite him over, but all he is doing is chasing the guests away. Her determination is that the reason Mitch invited Raymond over is because he is in love with him and wants Cam out of the picture. This, of course, is the furthest from the truth but Mitch and Gloria have a conversation about who would take it the hardest if he and Cam ever split up.

Jay and Joe- Jay takes on the role of leading The Learning Barn, with his son Joe. Instead of taking on the task himself, he brings along Margaret, who announces that she couldn’t have kids. However, Jay eventually steps up to the plate and takes the lead, until he is teased by Big Ears and ends up leaving, feeling sad. However, Joe informs his dad later that everyone loved him and they want to have him back.

Claire, Hayley, and Alex- Claire decides to take Alex and Hayley on a tour of her office, which turns out somewhat embarrassing for Claire when the girls run straight into a glass door. Claire is asked to deliver a speech for Herm, but she was unaware there were three Herm’s working at the company. So, she ends up giving a retirement speech about the wrong Herm. Hayley and Alex realize the entire day that their mom was trying to show off in front of them so they would be proud of her.

Phil, Manny, and Luke- Phil brings Manny and Luke to community service to pick up trash. Of course, Phil being Phil, he tries to turn picking up trash into a lesson on character building. Phil is approached by a man who pretends to know him, saying he needs taxi money since his car was just towed. It doesn’t take long for Luke to figure out that his dad had just been scammed. Later, Phil sees this same guy, begging other people for money so Phil trashes the guy’s car, with the help of Manny, Luke, and the other kids. However, it turns out Phil wasn’t scammed after all. In fact, the guy is a doctor, the same doctor that delivered Luke. Phil didn’t recognize him since it had been years since they saw each other. Building character huh Phil?

Even though Halloween is Claire’s holiday, she allows Phil to take over this year so instead of her usual fright-fest theme, he decides to turn the house into AwesomeLand! Gloria picks out Princess Fiona and Shrek costumes for her and Jay but Jay decides he wants to be Prince Charming complete with a full head of gorgeous hair, and with the hair comes a new sense of confidence. Elsewhere, Cameron gets overwhelmed by the day’s activities and Mitchell has closing arguments for a huge case, and it doesn’t help that the stenographer is dressed like a spider.

  1. Modern Family is a good show to watch. I started watching it when the kids in the show were still little. Now it seems they have all grown up! This show is so close to what is actually happening in our present society.

  2. I have to get back on track with Modern Family! I really loved the show, but somehow I have missed several seasons now. The recap sounds a lot of fun, so I have to find some time and see the seasons I have missed.
