This post is brought to you by State Farm. All opinions are mine.
About one year ago, I left my day job and decided to put all my time and energy into really growing my own business. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, not so much because of the financial aspect (although that definitely played a role in the panic!), but because it was a complete lifestyle change for me.
Imagine going from a position with a clear set of rules, a hierarchy and even a defined dress code to a life where the rules change as fast as internet trends and you ARE the hierarchy. Forget about a dress code! Going from a work-outside-the-home mom to a full-time work-at-home mom creates a bit of culture shock. When you’re a work-at-home-mom trying to create a media empire, you really need someone to have your back!
Success is a Family Effort
In my home, success is a family effort. I put in the long hours, yes, but I couldn’t do it without losing my mind if I didn’t know that my husband and children had my back. They not only helped give me the confidence I needed to embark on this incredible journey to fulfill my dreams, but they also provide me with inspiration! Even my children play an important role in my success.
For example, my daughter has my back when I’m in a bind and need a good craft idea for my site for kids! She’s always willing and eager to lend me her artistic talent. Just look at this beautiful flower craft she came up with recently!
My son is in high school now. His math skills come in handy when he helps me keep track of data on spreadsheets. He’s always willing to lend a hand and help look after his sister when school is out and I am swamped with work.
You know how we love sharing easy healthy recipes here on OurFamilyWorld? Someone has to try them out, right? I don’t just whip them up, photograph them, and then toss them! I want to make sure they’re as yummy as they are healthy. I don’t think my family minds having my back in the “recipe tester” department though!
Every day, in dozens of big and little ways, my family has my back as I continue to grow my business. Knowing that makes my road to success a little less steep.
Bottom line, we all need someone to have our backs, no matter what stage of life we’re at. Whether you’re starting a family or a business, having someone to bounce ideas off and take the journey with you gives you more confidence.
State Farm understands this. They give you the confidence you need to pursue your dreams, to know that you’re being proactive and responsible while you’re taking that next big step. While their agents may not come over to create a flower craft or test out your latest recipe, they do guide you through your decision-making process and really help you understand what you need to do to keep up that confidence. That kind of hands-on assistance is priceless when you’re embarking on the journey of a lifetime!
