School is officially back in season, and I’m using my Canon PIXMA MG7120 Wireless Inkjet All-in-One Printer more than ever now to get organized! Every year, my son comes home on the first day with a slew of papers. Some contain very important information, like how he can access educational websites. Every single year so far, I have lost that particular paper. No matter how careful I am about putting it in a “safe” place, it seems I never remember WHERE that safe place actually is!

Get Organized with the Canon PIXMA MG7120

This year, I have a new tool to help me get organized: my Canon PIXMA MG7120! See, as you may recall from our previous posts, it’s not just a printer but also an incredibly fast scanner! I am using it to scan all the documents that I don’t want to lose.

It’s an easy process: just open up the Canon Quick Menu and select “scan.” The Canon PIXMA MG7120 quickly and quietly scans the document.

Once scanned, I can easily save the documents as a PDF with My Image Garden. I created a folder for Jacob’s School stuff and saved them there. That way, when I inevitably lose the paper with all the “dates to remember” or how to buy birthday boxes for the classroom, I can just find it on my computer!

Of course, sometimes there are things I need to print rather than scan. If you’ve checked out our previous posts, you know that printing is what the Canon PIXMA MG7120 really excels at! Our school PTA has a Facebook group. Sometimes they share documents (such as about the new and insanely confusing dress code!) that I need to print. With my PIXMA Cloud App, it’s easy to just print right from Facebook. No need to download anything! I can also print from Photobucket, Dropbox, Twitter and more!

Preserve Your Child’s School Memories

I have a huge drawer filled with drawings and art work that Jacob has done since Kindergarten. He’s now in 4th grade. In the beginning, I saved EVERY scrap of paper that he even so much as doodled on! I’m very sentimental! It’s hard for me to let go. If I don’t, though, I’m going to need an entire chest of drawers by the time he graduates high school!

I’m using the Canon PIXMA MG7120 to start scanning some of his smaller art pieces into my computer. I’ll also scan his report cards and all those A+ tests that I kept. That way, I can finally let go of some of those papers while still keeping the memories!

Once I finish that project (which could take a while, since I have four years of art to scan!), I am planning to create a photo book. If I shrink down his art work into smaller images, I figure I can easily fit two per page. Using My Image Garden, I can create collages for each page. I’m planning to do it for each year.

How would the Canon PIXMA MG7120 help you get organized during the back to school season?

  1. Awe! That sounds wonderful. I hear ya with loosing some things and important papers. I could surely use something like this. My kids are into drawings and doodling and all that and it is nice to be able to keep something of memory. I want one! Thanks for sharing!

  2. How funny that I just helped a friend install this very printer model. Once it was all set up on wifi it works like a dream. The new owner was very impressed with the photo quality.
