If you’ve ever started a change jar at home, you know how fast those coins can add up. It seems like we accumulate a ton of spare change throughout the day! In just a few months, my son collected over $70 in change, a little bit at a time. Imagine if thousands of people pooled all that spare change together to help make the world a better place!
Air Canada Foundation’s Every Bit Counts Program
Air Canada Foundation knows that every donation, both large and small, can help make a huge difference in a child’s life. That’s why they started the Every Bit Counts Program. As part of this program, Air Canada collects small change on its flights. It also collects change in containers in some Canadian airports as well as Maple Leaf Lounges. It collects spare change from around the world. It takes all currencies which banks do not accept.
The funds they collect through the program are given to organizations that the Air Canada Foundation supports such as Breakfast Club Canada, Pathways to Education and pediatric Hospitals across Canada.
Just how much does every little bit counts? In 2013 only, the Air Canada Foundation raised over 170,000! That’s a pretty amazing amount of change- both literally and figuratively speaking! It really does show that even what seems like a small donation can really add up to a big difference. I love this program because it makes giving easier and more accessible to those who may not have a lot of extra money to donate. They accept all currencies of the world, including all that change you have left over from your trips abroad!
Air Canada Foundation also allows you to donate your Aeroplan miles to support their Hospital transportation program. If you haven’t heard about the program, it provides Aeroplan Miles to 15 Canadian pediatric hospitals. This helps children get to much-needed treatment centers that offer advanced medical care not available in their own areas.
These wonderful programs are two ways that you can help Air Canada Foundation in their mission to help children in need. The Foundation is constantly creating new ways to give back to the community. From charitable golf tournaments to employee initiatives, they work to get everyone involved in giving.
