Being a mom is often said to be the world’s toughest job. I think that’s true, mostly because it’s a job that never ends. We don’t get vacations, sick days or even weekends off. We don’t ever retire. Even when my son grows up and has a family of his own, I’ll still be his mom. I’ll still worry about him and want to make sure he’s doing okay. Just like, even though I’m 38, my mom still reminds me to make sure I lock the door when I go out. My own mom had a pretty tough job. She raised me through my teen years, which I assure you was no easy feat. To make it even harder, she did it alone while also raising my brother. When I left, I moved clear across the world with very little warning. Two years later, I was back with a husband! Over the years, my mom helped me out when I couldn’t afford to live on my own. After I split from my husband, she helped me with my son the way my grandmother helped her. Now that she’s in a rough spot, she lives with me and I try to repay all the years that she helped me out.

During rough times, I couldn’t afford much more than just a Mother’s Day card to celebrate the day. Since that was often my only gift, I tried to choose very carefully. Now that I’m in a better place, I still like to put as much effort as possible into that card.

Find the perfect Mother’s Day card at Cardstore

In the past, I would spend upwards of an hour standing in the store going through every card to find the right one. I am seriously one of the pickiest people when it comes to cards! Although I’m very sentimental overall, I’ve always preferred to go with a bit of humor in my Mother’s Day cards. I love that Cardstore lets me browse quickly, honing in on just the right type of card first. Since I wanted humor, I went with funny cards. We’ve had a lot of cats over the years. My mom is definitely a cat lady! As soon as I saw this card, I knew it was the right one.

Customizing the card was a breeze. I just added my own note about how she should be happy that there’s only one of me (trust me, after my teen years, I’m sure she feels the same way!). From there, I approved the designed, put it in my card and ordered. The whole process took me minutes. Much better than the hour I spend in the store searching for the right card!

Cardstore by American Greetings lets you personalize your Mother’s Day card in so many different ways. Create photo cards, add names to some of the cards and add your own sentiment inside. When you’re done, you can either have the card shipped to you or directly to your recipient in an envelope with your return address.

The Toughest Job for Sure!

Did you know that American Greetings created a job listing for a company called Rethom Inc (that’s Mother spelled backwards) that listed a job description based on everything moms do? The listing went out to dozens of markets, newspapers and even sponsored Google ad units. Of all the people who saw the listing, only 24 applied! This pretty much proves that being a mom is the toughest job. You have to watch this video. It’s simply awesome. Ready to design your own Mother’s Day Card? Head over to Cardstore and check out their great selection! When you’re done, use coupon code CCF4249 to drop the price to $2.49. The coupon is valid through May 5th, so go use it now! 1. My mom has always liked “homemade” cards. Next occassion, I might give this one a try! Thank You for your review! :)

  2. I am late to the game with watching the Toughest Job interview video – I finally saw it for the first time last night! I LOVE the card you chose, so funny! My mom is a cat lover so this would be a great pick for my mom as well. :)
