Shopping for a new mom or mom-to-be can be incredibly fun. That’s right, FUN! Why? Because new moms are experiencing everything for the very first time and in a whole new way. I got pregnant with my son in early November of 2004. I remember how excited I was that Christmas to receive “mom-to-be” gifts from everyone. Maybe I struggled so much with infertility, I felt like my time had finally come. Take a look at some of my favorite gifts ideas for mom. I broke them up into two categories: gift ideas for pregnant women and gift ideas for new moms.
Gifts Ideas for Mom to Be
Before I get into the gift ideas for mom to be, I have to tell you something funny! As I was searching for some great gift ideas, I saw a scale come up as a suggestion. DO NOT get a pregnant woman a new scale! Seriously, she will likely hit you with it! Who on earth thought that would be a good gift idea? Anyway, on with the gift ideas for mom.
Moms-to-be need extra pampering. This great Earth Mama Angel Baby kit gives her everything she needs to feel relaxed from head to toes. Includes Includes happy mama hand to toe wash, happy mama spray, organic morning wellness tea, earth mama body butter, and natural stretch oil. The Earth Mama Angel Baby line is made with all-natural organic products, so you can feel good about giving an environmentally friendly gift!
Todays Mom Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow
Every mom-to-be needs a pregnancy pillow of some type! I used a different type, but if they had this one back then, I would have definitely chosen it instead! It cradles her whole body, supporting both her growing belly and her back. The pillow comes in several different colors to match her bedroom decor. One of the best features of this pregnancy pillow is that it features a standard pillow area, rather than the hook design seen on other options.
I just love the idea of this book! Moms can write love letters to their baby throughout the entire pregnancy. The journal gives great prompts to help mom write her hopes and dreams for her future little one. After it’s finished, it makes a great gift to give to her child on a special birthday or event (like high school graduation!).
This one is just for fun and great for a pregnant couple. Dad-to-be can paint masterpieces on her growing belly! It would be fun to paint the same thing at different stages and photograph how the image grows. Comes with eight different FDA-approved water base paint colors, a belly painting brush, belly painting sponge, and a sheet of colorful temporary belly tattoos.
Kate Spade Sporty Nylon Stevie Baby Shoulder Bag Diaper Handbag
Want to really go all out and get a fashionista mom-to-be something she can use after her baby is born? This Kate Spade diaper bag is the ultimate in fashionable baby gear! It includes a diaper pad and pacifier bag. The bag itself features a large center compartment with five multi-use slip pockets.
Gift Ideas for New Moms
Please note that, again, a scale is NOT acceptable. In fact, unless someone specifically asks for one, assume that it’s never an ideal gift. Nothing says “hey, you could stand to lose a few pounds” better than a brand new scale.
It’s a coffee gift basket, need I say more? Look, new moms are exhausted pretty much 24/7. A nice coffee gift basket is a great way to perk them up! This one comes with plenty of caffeine! Includes: premium three types of coffee, two specialty coffee drinks, and a bunch of yummy desserts to go with her coffee, all in a stylish black caddy gift tote. Forget the new moms, send one to me!!
Isn’t this picture frame just adorable? This makes a great gift for both new parents. There is space for a picture of mom, dad and baby. Show off those great genetic traits in style! Hang it on the wall or use the easel to prop it up on a table.
While the pregnancy journal above is great for pregnant moms-to-be, this one lets her carry on the tradition after her baby is born. Each page contains writing prompts to help get her creative juices flowing. This too would make a great gift on her baby’s graduation day!
I love stamped jewelry like this! You can have it completely personalized to include baby’s name and birth date. The necklace also includes a birth stone from baby’s month of birth. Include all the information under the gift options when ordering.
New moms spend a lot of time watching the clock to time feedings right. If she’s going to be staring at a watch all day, make it a beautiful one! This Fossil watch is scratch-resistant, water-resistant (up to 165 feet) and just plain gorgeous!
What do you think of these gift ideas for mom? I tried to include a variety of items in different budgets. Do you have any suggestions that I missed?
