Kiddie Academy Case Study #5 – Cory and Summer Bullock
Cory Bullock and his wife, Summer, began looking at opportunities to start their own business because his commitment to the Navy was coming to a close. They researched a variety of different franchise industries including food and tanning before they decided to open a child care facility. They came across Kiddie Academy through an Internet search after about six months of searching. They inquired for information and shortly after that made a trip to Kiddie Academy’s headquarters to meet with the corporate staff. Kiddie Academy, unlike other franchise companies, opened their doors to Cory and Summer, despite their young age. Cory and Summer knew right then that they made the right decision that allowed them to bring their dream of being business owners and their passion for children together.
Kiddie Academy Owners’ Cory and Summer’s Goals
Since day one The Bullock’s main goal has been to operate a business that provides parents and children with the best care possible while being well-run and successful. They plan to do this by upholding their personal image and the Kiddie Academy brand image in the community. Cory Summer plan to continue working on expanding their current academy and possibly opening another location sometime in the future.
Cory and Summer’s Challenges
The challenges that Cory and Sumner faced were building brand awareness and establishing themselves in their local community. The Bullocks relished the challenge of starting a business that was new to the area and accepted it head-on. They focused on promoting the fact that their location was not a typical day care. This helped them set themselves apart from their competitors.
The Bullocks managed to achieve great success even though they were surrounded by competition and new to their community. They achieved both personal and business success. They created a well recognized and respected brand presence in their community and formed solid relationships with the clients they serve. Summer and Cory have had the pleasure of seeing progress in the children they serve.
If you’re worrying about being too young to be a successful franchise owner, don’t let that stop you. The main thing you need is a willingness to learn and the ability to work hard. Age is not a factor in success with this franchise. You just need to be able to build a strong sense of community in the area you serve.
