Plus it’s super easy for kids to help you make. Let’s be honest a minute, buying gifts for men can be difficult, or at least it’s that way for the guys in my life! Store-bought gifts are nice for birthdays and Christmas, but holidays like Valentine’s Day and Father’s Day are all about the sentiment. The thing is, we’re running out of sentimental ideas!

It’s not that the sentimental gifts are not appreciated. They are appreciated! But there are only so many adorable picture frames of the children a person can get in a year and still have room. However, there is one gift that never seems to lose its significance, notes. Writing notes to each other has become common practice in our house. In an age where everything is sent in a text or printed out from a computer, there is something incredibly special about a little hand written note. Plus, you can disguise notes a million different ways.

We disguised our notes in balloons and the whole family had a blast watching dad open his heartfelt gift.  To make our surprise “I love you because” notes we started by cutting out a dozen hearts about the size of a post-it note. Then we all wrote a couple of the reasons we love dad. We rolled up the notes and stuffed them in balloons. We blew them up and shoved them in a big box. You don’t have to decorate the box like we did, but it made it extra fun to watch his surprise when he unwrapped his gift. Check out our video tutorial, then read on for exactly how we did it. You can even print out the directions for later!
