Well, it’s official: cold season is here. How do I know? Because I’m sitting here with the stuffy head to prove it! My son started it last week, when he was out of school for two days. I knew it wouldn’t be long before I stared suffering too. Since kids get an average of 8-12 colds each year, lasting up to two weeks each, I fear this is just the start of the suffering.

Did you know that the common cold accounts for approximately 22 million missed days of school and 20 million absences from work, including time away from work caring for ill children? That’s a lot of lost time! While there remains no cure for the common cold, there are ways to help relieve the symptoms. Unfortunately, if your child can’t stand the taste of those ways, you many have a fight on your hands!

Dr. Cocoa helps take the “yuck” factor out of cold medicine

When it comes to giving kids medicine, a yucky taste can lead to massive struggles. Take a look at how Dr. Cocoa feels about that! I am mildly obsessed with the Dr. Cocoa puppet, I actually have about 15 other pictures of his crazy expressions!

Dr. Cocoa, a new line of cold medicines made with 10% real cocoa, is the first chocolate-flavored medicine for kids. I always said, if they could make medicine taste like chocolate, it would be much easier to administer. Finally, someone read my mind and listened!

When your child is feeling under the weather with a cold, relieving the symptoms is pretty much the only thing you can do. Dr. Cocoa for Children comes in three patented formulas for kids ages 4-13 to help you do that.

  • Dr. Cocoa™ Nighttime Cough + Cold Relief: Combines Diphenhydramine and Phenylephrine to relieve coughing as well as stuffy or runny nose and sneezing at night.

As with all medications, it’s important to follow the dosing instructions on the package and use only as directed. Talk to your pediatrician about any concerns you may have.

With three great-tasting Dr. Cocoa medications, you may not be able to cure the common cold, but you can at least take the “yuck” out of medicating your child. Now I just wish someone would make a grown-up version to help with my colds!

  1. This looks like a product my kids would not fuss to take. We all have sore throats and cough right now it is not fun. The puppet is so cute too!

  2. Well, my kids had cough and colds the first day of school. My school boy comes home and he was sick the on the first weekend, then follows my little girl, then me. We are all okay now, but my son still has a bit of a cough. It is nice they do have medicine now that do caters to the young ones. My kids do take the medicine though, but it is nice to know this one. I am sure it would be easier for them to take the medicine. Thanks for sharing!
